
The award hopes to create a positive atmosphere and competition between farmers in the region
The second edition of the Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Agricultural Excellence Award which aims to stimulate the plant and animal sector in the UAE has been announced at the ‘Sheikh Zayed Festival’ in Al Wathba.
The award prize-money has been increased to AED10 million which will be divided among participants and will also honour the exemplary performance of many of the UAE farmers and livestock breeders.

Pertaining to achieving agricultural sustainability, food security and increasing the quality of local production the award hopes to create a positive atmosphere and competition between farmers in the region.
The award aims to encourage and promote best agricultural practices and highlight the importance of the agriculture and livestock sector in the UAE’s sustainable development. The award is also a tribute to ADAFSA’s achievements in the field of agricultural sustainability and food and biosecurity.
The competition has been divided into many categories including eight sub-categories for distinguished farmers and breeders and crop production-related sub-categories, including the Best Farm in Open Field Cultivation, the Best Farm in Greenhouse Cultivation, the Best Farm in Fruit Production, and the Best Organic Farm.
The Agricultural Innovation Category features two awards, the first for crop production and the other for animal production. Meanwhile, the Commercial Farms Category features two awards, one for commercial animal production, and the other for commercial crop production.
This year’s edition also includes categories on best products of dates, palm, fruit baskets, fig and Sidr fruits. There will also be a live cooking competition, a contest for the best animal and marine food processing, a competition for the best dairy product, livestock competitions, and an awareness and promotional competition.
